Default 5 Things we’re still missing from our Smartphones

Source 5 Things we’re still missing from our Smartphones

With the iPhone, Pre, and a whole host of Android devices out the door, the race for the control of the cell phone market is heating up. As things usually go in the cell phone world, there are more battles of who had what first then who actually made it work right. That said, I thought it would be a good idea to cover five functions/features we absolutely need in our cell phones err Smartphone’s.

Longer battery life. I have a G1. In sleep mode the battery lasts < 10hrs. Days I use it a lot the battery lasts < 6hrs. This make the phone almost useless unless you are able to keep it plugged in.

I want to see more old school/simple phones without all these extras.
My favorite phone was a Nokia from about 6yrs ago. I don't recall the model number, sorry. I had this phone for a year or 2 and put it through more torture than a normal user would think of. I smashed it countless times, dropped it in water several times, threw it out a moving vehicle, ran over it with a pickup truck, hit it with a hammer, and the SOB still worked. Eventually I lost it in a brick wall. Granted, in the end there was no cover, keypad, or screen and the phone only worked in speaker phone mode. That was an incredibly durable, impressive phone.

I would like to see more options to help protect your privacy.

^ Here in Panama they still have those cheapy phones. They update the GUI in them but they are generally still the same thing. There are cheapest therefore most common, and I have shared the same experience as you guys...for $35 I can have a phone that has the heart of a boxer haha.

OP: The main thing that is irritating is the lack of battery life. That's the only thing...I don't know what else to ask from it really.

edit: tried to go to that link Osiris, AVG blocked it...?

Yeah, I use a blackberry 8100 and the battery life is crap. If I am not in the office then I am using this phone and when I have to do that a lot then I need to have it plugged in to charge by the end of the night. Kind of annoying when my Nokia brick goes 5 days strong.

My 3GS has better battery life than my friend's 3G...there are some minor tweaks I hear of that you can make to extend the battery life. Turning off WiFi helped a load, though.
