So if this is true then Nvidia is taking their confusing nameing system even further. Because how is dropping the X and lowering the number suppose to say "hey I'm a upgrade".

no...
the old ones were "GT200" ...now these ones are GT206 and GT212 lol....

They are the code names, i think there going to be called the GTX 270 and the GTX 290.
