My modular PSU has lasted 2 years and been disconnected/reconnected countless times on many different setups. Rails are still stable at 12.08V which is exactly what they were when I bought it.
old news is old. get with the program. Also they aren't close they are ahead. The 4870X2 is the single fastest card on the market no matter how you cut it.
