| Microsoft’s Mystery Mouse Is Coming Microsoft’s Mystery Mouse Is Coming
Normally we wouldn’t be getting all excited over a mouse but, according to the this article, Microsoft is releasing a new mouse on the 9th of next month and the only hint the company is giving is “ Say Goodbye To Laser” and this logo: The obvious guess is that it's a new mouse technology, maybe replacing the internal lasers currently used to determine the relative position of mice. But it could be something else entirely. Microsoft isn't offering any details. Does the shape of the logo provide any clues? I'm doing a little digging, and I'll update this post if I turn anything up. |

| Re: Microsoft’s Mystery Mouse Is Coming Online sleuths uncover secret Microsoft mouse
Seems the mystery has been solved. Quote:
Spoiler alert: The mystery behind Microsoft Hardware's "Say Goodbye to Laser" teaser appears to have been solved, in record time.
Readers of sites including Engadget and Gizmodo have uncovered references to and photos of a new Microsoft "Blue Track" mouse on sites including the German version of Amazon.com and the YouGame online store. Among other things, the logo on the front matches the image at the end of Microsoft's teaser animation.
Here's how the YouGame site explains the technology. (This is a rough machine translation from the Italian-language description.) Quote: |
Microsoft is pleased to announce the launch of a new mouse tracking technology is revolutionary than optical that than lasers. ... Microsoft Bluetrack offers excellent performance and accuracy on most surfaces (raw wood, granite and carpeting included) allowing you to control your computer from anywhere you want. ... This mouse is ideal for notebooks for its small size. Its elegant design, the blue luminescence and metal finishing side will give an exclusive style. Accurate and fast, is rechargeable through the appropriate base.
| All of this appears pretty solid, but I've asked Microsoft for a comment, and I'll update this post depending on the response.

| Re: Microsoft’s Mystery Mouse Is Coming Meh. Nothing about any better performance, just that it is more accurate on uneven surfaces due to it using a wider scanning area.
I'll stick with my Lachesis. |

| Re: Microsoft’s Mystery Mouse Is Coming Methinks I shall wait and see how this mouse turns out in regards to sensitivity and balance.
The one thing that's putting me off so far is the shape. I've never been a particularly huge fan of the way Microsoft design their mice.

| Re: Microsoft’s Mystery Mouse Is Coming Ah yes,
I believe this is themouse I tested at Microsoft study. However, I'm not allowed to discuss the details.
There's more innovation that what's being shown I believe, if they included what I think they did.
One benefit of living next door to Microsoft. |
