How come its 3dmark06 score is low compared to the 9800GX2?

...because 3dmark06 is old and not really a fair judge of a card's performance anymore. Vantage is much better for newer cards. Also keep in mind this is a single GPU vs a dual gpu card.

Is there a newer 3dmark comming out or is it Vantage from now on?

it looks like the GTX 280 will come into its own in higher resolutions, especially 2560x1600 but will be roughly average for lower resolutions e.g. 1280x1024. For that reason, i doubt many people will buy it unless they have a 30" and want crysis maxed on it...

that is ofc if inq can be believed...

it does have the 1gb of vRAM in it so that works well for high res.
