You can connect any amount of PC's on one wireless router (speed will just limit).

Also, it has 4 ethernet jacks, so you can have 8 people, 4 wired.

Chances are the router wasn't Wireless-G compatible, and most wireless cards now are Wireless G.

The only difference between that gaming router is basically looks.

This router would be your best bet. Its around $10-$15 less than the "gaming" router, but it has very high speeds, and 2 antenna's, for allowing more signal in from wireless.

It provides faster speeds than ethernet, 108MB/s compared to 100MB/s.

Defenitely a good buy, check it out!

could i just hook up the wireless through the wired to get one network and good connection closer to my computer and have good speed, or would this cause it to drop more packets

That wouldn't lose any connection, as long as you aren't recieving or sending data through the internet.

I recommend buying that router that i showed from Newegg (all you need is credit card), and hook up the 4-wired connections, and hook up the 4 wireless through the 2 antennas. Gaming will be much faster too because it's Wireless-G 108MB.

Make sure WEP encryption is enabled for security, i use 64-bit, and have a password as your phone number. Easy eh? Nobody has figured it out or stole my internet.
