The moral of the story is if your going to flash your 4800 BIOS you best be darn sure its going to work..

No it's not true. The issue was with GPU-Z. BIOS files are normally 64kb but apparently gDDR5 requires some additional instructions so the 4870 bios is 128kb in length. This means people were only dumping 1/2 their bioses, so when they edited them and tried to flash it was a bad flash.

Then some of them claimed they didn't do anything and blamed it on ATI...

ya i dont think there will ever be a card as bad as the 7900gt for failure rates. i had t ogo thru 3 of them before i got one that worked and by that poitn it was a 7950gt lol.
