^yeah that's the thing that's interesting about this. Will be interesting to see how it clocks after a 55nm shrink.

What I don't understand is if the 4850's are like $160-170 right now and this comes out for $229, shouldn't it be competiting with the 4870's a little bit? $229 to $280-300 is not a gigantic jump as far as graphics cards go....

But either way, If i feel i want to, i may pick one of these up just because the shrink should result in better overclocks and it would need less cooling, wouldn't you say so?

yea cause look at the 65nm-45nm quads, less voltage and they usually run cooler (don't OC as well, but that's due to the multi)

Yea, I think they should just cancel the original 9800 gtx and move the gtx+ to $199 because at $229 you'd be better off doing what you said, splurge for the 4870 or maybe a GTX 260

hopefully the price will change from $229 considering they already dropped the prices for the GTX 260/280...

EVGA | Products

it's on evga for pre-order, $199, so i'm guessing that's going to be the selling price !

lol people on their forum are already talking about stepping up to it

Half their forum members are spoiled and/or rich, or have parents that let them buy what they want

I wish I could do that...

same here i'm still trying to save up money for my build

this card looks promising though, good price for what it can do. I hope the price stays, because if it goes over $220 you'd probably just be better off buying a GTX 260
