Default ZA allows AIM. AIM doesn't connect unless ZA is off. WTF?

If I turn off ZoneAlarm, then turn on AIM, AIM works.

If I have ZoneAlarm on, then turn on AIM, AIM does not work.

The only exception is when I restart. AIM will load fine, but then after some time (few hours) it stops responding and I must restart and/or shut down ZoneAlarm in order to get AIM to boot.

AIM has green checked in all 4 slots of ZoneAlarm in the program control section.

Everything else looks to be in place. I've never had this problem before. What the ****?

Strange. From what I remember, Zone Alarm creates a cryptographic hash of the executable that you have approved. If something corrupted this, or your executable itself got "modified" somehow, I would imagine you would get denied. Or something messed up with Zone Alarm itself.

I suggest, you reinstall them. You can reload any AIM settings later I would imagine. As for Zone Alarm, it doesn't really take that long to "re-train" it.

Yeah. I got into the strong habit of just clicking that box and yes continuously for the first day. Then all is good.

I'll try AIM first, since that's about 15 seconds out of my day to download and boot up.

TO BE CONTINUED...

I just reinstalled it, even without removing the original AIM. Just redownloaded and it even still had my password/username saved and loaded right away. *shrugs* But whatever, I signed off, turned ZoneAlarm on, and signed on and off with ZA running like 10 times over the course of 2 minutes. So far everything works fine... before if ZA was on, it wouldn't boot, but if I turned off ZA real quick and counted to 5 BAM I'd be online. *shrugs*

Seems to be working. MMkTHXu! <3
