| Windows XP + Multiple PCs/Household. I've been told that you can use one Windows operating system disc for up to three computers in a household assuming those computers are intended for personal/home use and not commercial use.
I've had trouble tracking this information down to confirm it... anybody know offhand? |

| I've used the same XP Pro key about 10 times now so I don't think it is a problem

I used the Windows OS disc that came with the Dell upstairs... Somehow I got that Dell, a 5 year old Gateway, and my custom PC all to run with Windows XP Home using that disc. I don't think that's allowed, but hey! I don't really care.
I just wasn't sure if the rumor was true, but if after 10 times it's not limiting to you I guess that answers my question. |

I know you can active windows about 10s or so, however windows is still 1 licence (CAL) per computer unless you have some prior agreement with MS.
Read the EULA some time and tell me where it says 3 copy per household

| All in all, if I have three custom built computers I need to spend 300 dollars for three copies of Microsoft Windows XP Hom edition?
Pffft, if it came to that I'd become a crackwh0re. (if you know what I mean). |

| Meh. Try linux. Personally, I think within a few years it will seriously start competing with XP. Of course, when that happens, the open source community better start figuring out how to distribute it's files securely
And also how not to allow "hackers" to modify the source code itself - considering everything is open and all. |
