Have you ever had your water tested? If the water that is at the fish store is even somewhat different than yours, in terms of pH, hardness, etc, etc then your new fish may have a hard time acclimating to their new home

I know what you mean. But i water is straight from our own well, there is no chlorine or anything. I just don't get why the one fish lives and all the other ones die. I might look into that ph thing though.

Where i get my fish is only 20 miles away so the water should be about the same.

If you would want to keep fish you might want to research the fish. So what kind of fish do you have then. Do you have any pics?

no pics, but they were the little neon ones and i think some were a kind of gold fish. have air being pumped constantly, but don't have a water pump.

You are right that the water in the ground 20 miles away would be similar. However, if the fish store uses municipally-treated water then it is likely different, and not just from chlorine.

You stack odds against almost any kind of fish if you don't have a filtration system. If it's a 10g tank, you should be able to get an adequate hang-on-the-back-style filter for less than $20.

well if you have no filter in the tank that is why your fish are dying. Whats going to take out the bad stuff like the ammonia. I woudl like get a filter like right away. I have about enough filtration on my 55 for a 200 gallon. And you probably have neon tetra. My fish eat neon tetras.
