I need to know the answers to 2 simple questions for physics:

If you race a tire (car tire) and a wheel (car rim) downhilll on a smooth flat surface which one wins?

I need some info on that so if you can give me a website that would be great

second one is if you race the tire and wheel mounted (like it is on the car) and race it with jus the tire alone in the same circumsatnces which one wins?

does the tire fit the rim? and what causes them to start rolling?

nevermind it doesnt matter... they would always tie as the only influence would be gravity the distance would be

1/2(A)(t)^2

A=32.2ft/s^2

I dont know man....been awhile...the rolling action is what is throwing me off. I am not sure... i think that they would tie in both examples but I dont have proof to back it up.

rim beats tire, less friction

mounted tire-wheel beats tire, more weight AND less friciton

both cases assume long enough hill

its true and is also due because of the spread of material which produces different torques, I only neeeded 2 sources but I got them, thanks anyways for the replys
