|  Whats the difference between espresso and coffee?
I was wondering what the difference was cause I saw a espresso maker for 20 bucks.
Is there a difference in what you have to fill it with. Is there like different types of coffee for it, or can you just use any regular coffee.
Any tips? Thanks! |

They have different extraction (brewing) mechanisms.
A double shot of espresso is extracted over a period of about 20 seconds, whereas a single serving of drip coffee would take 10x as long to produce. A smaller granule of coffee has more surface area to volume, and as such a fine grind of coffee will release it's goodness much more quickly than a course grind. Thus, an espresso grind is much more fine than that of drip coffee.

Yeah, concentrated. Esp[resso is to be drunk from small cups, a few ounces tops usually. Rather than the large coffee cups we usually see. Plus, add some frothed milk and maybe vanilla to an espresso and you've got cappuchino!

So if I got a machine, can I use my Costa Rican Coffee Beans or would I need espresso beans if thats what they are.

espresso is generally a very concentrated form of coffee, and is generally served in small amounts sometimes called "a shot of espresso" and doesnt have any cream or milk in it
a coffee is something you shoul try to find out

If you buy a coffee grinder, it will have a setting for espresso, and you can use your normal beans.
