the computer world needs a computer that will NEVER go obsolete. For example, buy an expensive PC, and actually be able to use it for more than one year, before having to upgrade.

Yes. Or they should focus on what they have instead of faster PCs. . . . . Hard drives suck. Flash memory would kick *** to make available. . . .. I am going to try it

Flash memory can only be written and erased so many times before it dies. There could be nasty viruses out there made to write and erase files multiple times in the background, essentially destroying your storage device in a hurry.

What we really need is storage devices that are faster! Hard drives are the biggest bottleneck in computers today. Even SCSI's are a bottleneck.

Maybe they should invent a mobo that is less bulky (NOT the micro ATX) uses smaller chips, doesn't feture onboard cards (we end up buying are own components anyway) and has an alternate meathod than ATI or SCCI. And how can flash memory only be used so many times? My mom has this digital camera that has a card that gets written to and erased almost daily. . . . . . she has had it for a 5 years, and the card runs like the day she got it. unless were talking about somthing different.

Most Flash memories only guarantee a limited number of erase and re-write cycles. Typical values are guaranteed cycles of 10,000 times.
The flash memory in your moms camera being writen and erased once or twice a day for doesnt compare to the amount of times it would be written and erased in just an hour at your computer.
