Country music and rap are condemned to the same fate: both are seriously artistically restricted by the "rules" of the genre's they created. I.E. you can't be a country superstar and voice dissent about American policies (look at the Dixie Chicks), and you can't be a rap super star and rap about getting an education and respecting females and avoiding the pitfalls of drugs. Rock is the most heterogeneous of genres and TOOL is great example of finding success on the fringe!
