Default Tivo?

Can someone tell me a little more about Tivo? I couldn't figure much out from their site. It seems to me like you are buying the viewing options (like recording, rewind etc) and not an actual cable service, is this true? If it is an actual cable service, is it a satellite-based signal?

Here's the funniest part of all, they advertise that you can "fast-forward LIVE tv". So this is also the first of the new generation of time warp machines? I want to see the future!!!

they've got 'tivo' like options for both cable and satellite here.

I know nothing of the prices and service though.

I've got Tivo. You have to pay for the service of recording and all that good stuff. REEEAAALLLY worth it. The price does not include cable of course. You need a cable box connected to the tivo as well as a phone line to download program scedules and software updates.
