Default Spam!!!

I know some guy recently got spammed and I have a question. When you ban their accounts do you block their account or ban them by IP address. They can always make a new account if you just ban their current account. Ban the IP is kinda harsh, ban for life but ey ey that's what they deserve lol...
I am just asking to see how you guys do it so I know what to do on my forums.
Peace!

Cnico88, this question really dont belong here. But you can do multiple things. Such as banning Tag/ E mail/ IP. Mostly sites do them all, since thats really the best way to keep them away.

Banning IP's is very ineffective.
They can power on and off their modem and get a new one.
Than you need to ban their range.

Than they use a proxy.

I know the admin of musicv2.com when his site got hacked by some vietmiesse guy, he IP range banned the entire country of vietnam.

I agree. Or they can go make another account at Starbucks and then get back in with their ***free*** iPod deals!

I think they sometimes do ban by IP address (see the IP Logged button under your posts)
but I believe it is with the first 2 octels of the IP address, and the ISP gets banned

This is definitely not the right forum to be posting this. You should have put it off topic man as it relates nothing to hardware.

Turning off the modem and powering on doesnt reset everyones IP. Some people are given static IP's by their ISP

Can't you change your IP? Or is that what DJ-CHRIS said?
