Default SB screw up?

Ok so i have a SB Live 5.1 and recently when im listening to songs from my HD it makes this god awful screeching sound. Its like a turn table sound sort of cept worse. Its random too. Any ideas?

Reinstall drivers, or roll them back to the previous setting.

Oooh. I know what you're talking about. I've heard it before. Not sure how or why it happens though.

Mine started to do it aswell, but after weeks of troubleshooting I never did find out why. I just took it out of my machine and went back to 5.1 onboard sound for now till I can afford a better sound card.

sounds like an IRQ conflict with something. Try changing the PCI slot the card is in.

Now that you mention it i do have it in the slot under the one its usualy in. Ill try it tomorrow and see if it works.
