Default run a DLL as an App.....

when i try to click something in control panal (i have XP) i get a message saying

Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience

and hear is my error signature

AppName:rundll32.exe AppVer:5.1.2600.0 ModName:rundll32.exe

ModVer 5.1.2000.0 Offset:00010003

Try running some virus/spyware/adware scans... If that doesn't work, reinstalling Windows would probably fix it.

i tried to reinstall windows but i need a 25 character key code and the sticker is missing on my front PC tower.

Well, if it's a legal copy of Windows (it is, right?), you could call Microsoft and ask them for a key.

wow, what a coincidence, we just had that fun error happen here at work.

When the error pops up, keep clicking more info until you find teh file your rundll32.exe is trying to reference, then search your registry for that file (Its going to be a key reference value), edit that key and delete the filename.

We found out that this was caused by removing a spyware that had embeded itself in the rundll32.exe file.

i was going to suggest perhaps a sfc /scannow that seems to fix a lot of my weird errors....
