I recently downloaded a .RAR file.

When I tried to extract it with WinRar it asked me for a password because the file is password encrypted. I have never had this happen to me before.

Does anyone know how to get around the password problem and just extract the data, or a way to break through since I do not have the password?

I think the only way is to find a password cracker. I'd recommend one but I've never been able to get one to work. They literally try every word/combination that they can think of. As far as I know there's no other way around.

you can get a password cracker, but they take days. (between brute force and disctionary)

research the name of the RAR file on Google. Also, if there is a website in it its usually the URL of the site, like: www.tech-forums.com or something

uMMMM..... good luck! RAR password files are rather hard to crack.

Check the site where you downloaded the file from for the password
