They have allways been able to take your property and give it to a private buisness or company or use it them selfs. What that has done has increased there power to do things like this. Currently im in Tampa Florida and people are extremly ****ed off because there is almost no where for them to go if the goverment does take there house's for the new roads there building here. And if the goverment can increase its power on that imagine what else it can do. Shows how corrupt and ****ed up this world is dont it?

That's called eminent domain. The government can't "take" your house for roads, they have to pay you fair value on it. What was said at the beginning of this thread is that the government can now take your property, without paying you for it, and give the property to a private party. The two things are close, but are totally different. The eminent domain, the government PAYS you for your property to use for roads, etc. With this new law, the government TAKES your property and gives it to a private party/corporation (like Walmart).

Um... the owners were payed.

It says so on the web site.

Their arguement is that the reason for taking the property and paying them for it was not for 'pubic use.' Which is completely wrong.

The Supreme Court, as usually, is right.
