Default Olympics 2004 Athens

i don't know if anybody even cared to watch the opening ceremony but we've done it again. the Olympics are back to us and in my opinion they should stay here.

either way, it was a very emotional moment seeing people from all over the world celebrate together. it was cool as he11 when the French president of the IOC spoke Greek! i also loved the history parade. it reminded me of the books i studied back in grammar school.

well,

WELCOME TO THE OLYMPICS OF 2004!!!!!!!!!!

I watched the second half of it. I had kind of forgotten that they were stating already.
I have memories of being a little kid and hating the olymics cause that meant that my cartoons wouldn't be on Saturday morning...
Now I watch and stand amazed at the abilities of these people.

I love that the olympics bring people/countries together but it's kinda of a sad excuse for it. As for watching the olympics, bah, wow I guy can run the 100M in 9 secs, who cares. I'd rather watch some 11 year old kid do 360' varial flip off a kicker and land 5-0 on a rail in the xgames. That takes talent. I think the olympics are pathetic and fading away.

That is pathetic, get the facts about the Olympics straight and then come back and argue. Culture isnt revolving around stupid skateboarding or rollerblading which take only a couple of years to master, rather than the Olympics which take all of someone's life to master. These people are the best of the best. Like it or not, the Olympics are WAY more famous than some head banging kids jumping around on stupid skates and boards.

I'm not going to argue, flame, etc.

I say well done to Greece for actually getting the venues ready on time, when it looked like they wouldnt! Its also nice to see the event going back to where it came from!

However it isnt my thing really, I personally have no interest in Athletics, swimming, gymnastics, etc. So I doubt I will watch any of the olympics!

GameGURU why are you so quick to judge? Ken Masters admitidly ruined his post by adding the end part about the olympics being pathetic.. however you then jump in and slag off the fact that he likes to watch skating. I was a skateboarder myself (until i tore the skin and flesh off my left knee and lower leg down to the bone). And I personally find watching Skateboarding and Wakeboarding more interesting than watching an 800m or a triathlon (both events I used to participate in). Its just a personal preference! So how come you have to dive in and then say he is wrong? Is no-one allowed a preference here? Admitedly his bit slating the olymics was out of line and un called for in a thread about the olympics. But surely stating his preference in entertainment is aloud without someone coming along and then saying that he is wrong to have that opinion!

Anyway thats off track... good luck to all nations competing and lets hope greece has no problems while hosting it!

I didnt say a thing about him being wrong, his opinion is that he likes Boarding and skating...fine, I respect his opinion. However the fact that the Olympics was ripped on (at least the tone of his argument), made it seem he was saying that the Olympics are pathetic and that no one should like them. My friends...it isnt all about the sports, it's culture. Those games have been here for so long it is amazing that they have lived the couple thousands of years that they have.

Ken Masters, I am sorry if I offended you, I didnt mean to. It just seemed unnecessary that you bring down something so great like that. We all have our opinions.
