| my bro, the moron I was arguing with my bro as to how stupid he was, some how computers came in to the conversation and them catching light, he was under the impression that the interior of a computer can easily catch fire, and thatÂ’s why the make case out of plastic, so then melt and act as a blanket:rolleyes: any who, I was yelling at him in disgust, trying to convince him that thatÂ’s not why the make cases of plastic, and that computer components donÂ’t catch fire very readily, considering there just plastic metal silicon what ever, but still, clarify this for me, I think his stupid ness wore off on to me somewhat! |

| My case isn't made of plastic . Only the front cover is made of plastic. Come to think of it, most cases I have seen are more metal than plastic....

| The smell is the least of your worries. The fumes are the biggest concern.
I have very little plastic on my case though. Not even the front. The doors are made out of 0.5 or so mm aluminium.

| yeah i think there are two lessons to be drawn from this thread:
1) harry18's bro is an idiot
2) most computer cases are made of metal with a plastic front
here ends the lesson.

| Plastic is a very bad thing to have burning. Large amounts of plastic burning is a firefighter's nightmare. Why? Because burning plastic burns VERY long, Very hot (much more hotter then wood), doesn't put out easily, VERY black smoke, and smells horrible. Not too long ago about 25 miles away from my house, a factory or werehouse with TONS of plastic in it caught fire. The fire was so hot (because of the plastic) that the firefighters couldn't do anything or go anywhere near the fire. All they could do was shoot water into it, and let the place burn down.
So using plastic to "blanket" a fire is a very bad idea, it's like trying to use water on a grease fire. |
