The last thing that the CAI is going to give you is a "v8 sound". You might see a little jump in throttle response, but that is about it. With a stock V6 I am sure the stock airbox setup provides enough air.
But the new intake will give the engine bay a nice touch, if that's what you are looking for.

Something else that would really help your car out looks wise is a set of smoked headlights. Find a set of OEM's on ebay or something from a 2000 on up.

Another cheap appearance mod would be to lower your car. I just did mine last weekend, I cut one coil out of each of the stock springs.

The CAI wont improve much of anything in honesty. I have a CAI on my 97 intrepid, sure it sounds a lot better, and quite a bit louder, but not like a v8... no v6 will ever sound like a v8

To the non-mustang owner it will sound a lot like a v8. And I know it won't sound identical, but a lot better and pretty similar.

It's a cheap mod so why not?

Also, lancec, is that a legit cobra? The bumpers don't look right for some reason. And do cobra's really not have a hood scoop?

Yeah it is, 2001. You are probably thinking of the 2003 Cobras, they have the very round fog light cowls and are supercharged.

Yep that'd be it

Is that your car in the first image of front bumper? If so I like what you did to the image to show the engine. Looks very cool!

Yeah it is, you can do it with any camera if you have a tripod. You just take a picture with the hood up, then the hood down. Blend the 2 photos together in Photoshop and you're done.

DO NOT CUT COILS.. It will ruin the ride quality of the car and will have adverse handling effects on the car. If you want it lowered, do it right the first time.. DO your research and get a set of good springs for only like $250.. Eibach isn't the best, but it will lower the car better than chopping springs.

Here's my car and I like to think I know what I'm doing. 480hp heads and Cam LS1. My '10 year old car' is still just as fast, if not faster than today's new cars. But I still wouldn't mind an 03 Cobra!

And look into the GT Cat back Dual exhaust.. it'll get rid of that hideous (IMO) single rusted 'tip'.
