| I would strongly suggest not going into the programming field if you are only interested in making the most money. The majority of the jobs are being replaced due to outsourcing. As of now, 40% of all programming (and help desk) jobs are being outsourced to places like India. Big companies like Verizon and Microsoft are doing it. Even our government is doing it!!!!
It is projected that by 2008, over 90% of all companies will outsource.
As for network supports, improvements like ghost install (automatically installing support programs in the background with the click of a button) and ghost servers (creating images of PCs to easily make workstations) are making it easier for companies to get away with smaller staffs.
Really, the only safe tech field is computer engineering (chip making, DVD player making, etc) and even that is being flooded with a huge work force.
I would suggest following a degree in mathematics or physics. As a mathemetician or physicist, you can be support for any of the following fields: healthcare, engineering, and even computers.

| cinco88, it looks like you enjoy photography. Why not be a photographer? That was what I wanted to be when I was younger.
KornNut, I don't really enjoy programming, so I guess that is out of the question. I think it would be awesome to etch the little paths into the circuit boards...do they get paid much? |

| These figures are for jobs within the United States:
Average Starting salarly for Programmer: $45,000 (up 2% from last year, however, down 26% from five years ago)
Average Starting salarly for Computer Engineer: $56,000 (up 8% from last year)
Note: these are starting salaries for coming out of college.
