Remember guys, vern has no card at all.

An x1900xt is a huge jump for him, and $50 shipped is a good deal.

Its gonna be much harder to get him an Hd4850.

Id rather have 10 ppl each give him 20$ so he can get a 4850 so he can stop being so sad about not being able to play any games.

That 4850 will last him years, seeing as though his screen size isn't too big...

Vern: whats your max resolution anyways??

Guys Guys Guys..... I'm grateful you guys are doing this again...

I'm only playing COD4 and Halo 2 (those are my most demanding games...)

I really don't need as much power as an HD 4850 when I play at 1440x900

Trotter i can do that as well. I could put up my 6800 that i have as well.

But if that is all he really plays the 8600GT would be sufficent right? I can run Halo, STALKER and all my other games with ease with it.

But if we want to get him a ATi i will sell them off and give part of it to this effort.

Actually I'm working on that... I'm currently studying for my A+ Certification to get a job at Geek Squad lol

I checked and x1900xt can max cod4 on high settings at 1440x900 with over 40fps.

And its the 512mb crossfire edition, here it is:

You already know more than the Geek Squad.

With my many dealings with them, they do not have a clue what they are talking about. I have actually gotten at least 10 people not to buy from Best Buy cause of this fact. A couple of times i was asked to leave the store cause i was hurting their sales.

They are over priced and really do not have a clue what they are doing. They rely to much on 3rd party software to diagnose a issue and not enough onf actual brain power.

I had a copy of one of hte Geek Squad Discs. It is really rahter useless....

Haha, but I went in.. and the guy said I needed an A+ Certification... and but I've known a friend who mentioned NOD32 for free and he got fired from the job
