Default Is it legal?

Is it legal to quote things from the web? For example, If someone posted something on digg.com, would it be legal to quote that on a blog? Or would you have to ask permission from the original writer?

Unless youre in school quoting a source, or unless youre quoting someone in a publication that will make you money I don't think it's illegal or forbidden in any enforcable way to "quote" someone.

Its only illegal if you claim the quoted material as your own work. (so make sure you cite the source)
