| Kids killing themselves over video games? This is a story that is about a year old. But, it still makes me scratch my head everytime I hear or see something like this. http://www.tgdaily.com/2005/11/22/su...rldofwarcraft/
It's so easy to blame video games isn't it? He was addicted to World of Warcraft. So he commited suicide to reenact a part of the game. Which turns out not to actually be a part of the game, but a user created game/with-in/the game. ok?
It's fair to say that i'm totally addicted to BF2. I play for a good 2-4 hours a day. I look forward to coming home from work, grabbing a beer and getting online and meeting up with my clan in our clan server for a few hours of capture the flag. Chat, Frag and just have some mindless fun. But, it ends there. I can't seem to grasp the concept of the gaming world merged into reality. Someone who can merge gaming into reality has serious issues that go far beyond jumping out a window because of a video game. I mean seriously. That kids parents are blaming Blizzard "suing actually" because they claim that it's because of their game, he jumped out of a freakin' window. HOLY CRAP!!! What the heck? If anything "Blizzard" should sue his parents for probably raising him in a sheltered life outside of reality. Allowing him to play video games so much and potentially just being bad parents. I can bet you one thing, if he had a good relationship with his parents he certainly wouldn't jump out of a freakin' window. So sue the parents. For them being bad parents and tarnishing the name of world of warcraft. Sounds crazy right? Just as crazy as someone jumping out a window because of a video game.
Heck I used to play Twisted Metal all the time. I was addicted to that game for awhile. I'm not going to strap some freakin' guns to my car and drive around the shopping mall parking lot this holiday season blasting everything in my path. Oh, the game told me to do it. Isn't that what i'm supposed to do? Or how about if I buy some claymores from the underground arms market and head to the mall and set them up in the doorways of Macy's. Head back about 1000 yards with my sniper rifle and wait for some un expected family to come walking through the door. BOOM... You've defended a Flag!!! woot woot.... Yeah.... EA it's your fault. I've slipped into a mental state of disillusion. I'm suing you for all your worth. Because of you my mind has become twisted and i now feel the need to litter the highway with Anti-Armor mines.
REQUESTING ARTILLERY.... OVER!

| "Live in your world, Die in ours...(TM)" World of warcraft II requires your credit card number to play online. No wonder he killed himself. J/K If you ask me, I don't think it was World of Warcrap he was addicted to... *Hint-Hint* :classic:

| Great...... Firstly we get people forgetting to eat, sleep and **** as they are addicted to WoW. And now we have this...... Quote: |
Xinhua, a mainland China news agency, has reported that the parents of a young boy who committed suicide last year have filed suit against Blizzard, the makers of World of Warcraft. The boy jumped out of a 24-story window on December 27, 2004 and the parents blame the suicide on the boy's alleged addiction to the game. They also believe that he was trying to reenact a scene from the game.
| Honestly.... if you can not tell the difference between the real world laws of physics, and your computer's PhysX Processing, then you are just too stupid to be allowed to live!
I am waiting to see the first story of some one getting killed by their how mate as they throw a toilet at them just cause they were playing too much HL2 Deathmatch.
Now this thing is kinda scary in a way as I do see that some of the events that happen 80's that was blamed on Dungons and Dragons has now crepted into the cyberworld. Quote: http://www.chick.com/articles/dnd.asp
A D&D "Hall of Shame"
This provides us with a spiritual explanation of why the following tragic litany of evil keeps growing around players of Dungeons and Dragons. The psychological explanation buttresses this as well, for we now understand the D&D can readily be a form of mind-control which also uses real occult techniques to foster possession by evil spirits.
The "Freeway Killer," Vernon Butts, who committed suicide in his cell in 1987 while being held as a suspect in a string of murders was an avid D&D player.
D&D player (14 years old) commits suicide by hanging, 1979, name withheld by parents' request.
D&D player (17 years old) Michael Dempsey, Lynnwood, WA. suicide by gunshot wound to the head, 5/19/81. Witnesses saw him trying to summon up D&D demons just minutes before his death.
D&D player (? years old) Steve Loyacano, Castle Rock, CO., suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning, 10/14/82. Police report satanic writings and a suicide note liked the death to D&D.
D&D player (21 years old) Timothy Grice, Lafayette, CO., suicide by shotgun blast, 1/17/83. Detective reports noted, "D&D became a reality. He thought he was not constrained to this life, but could leave [it] and return because of the game."
D&D player (18 years old) Harold T. Collins, Marion, OH., suicide by hanging, 4/29/83. Collins was noted to be "possessed" by D&D as if he were living the game.
D&D player (16 years old) Daniel Erwin, Lafayette, CO., murder by brother's shotgun blast to head, 11/2/84 (right after Halloween). Death was apparently the result of a death pact as part of the game.
D&D player (12 years old) Steve Erwin (see above) suicide by gunshot, 11/2/84. Detective report: "No doubt D&D cost them their lives."
D&D player (no age given) Joseph Malin, Salt Lake City, UT., pled guilty to first degree murder 3/2/88 and was sentenced to life in prison. He killed a 13 years old girl while acting out the fantasy-role game. The girl had been raped, her throat cut, and she had been stabbed twice in the chest. Police said his "violent urges were fed by 'extreme involvement in the fantasy role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons.'"
D&D player (14 years old) Sean Sellers was convicted of killing his parents and a convenience store clerk in Greeley, Oklahoma (1/11/87). He is the youngest inmate of death row in the country as of this writing (22 now). His involvement in hard-core Satanism began with D&D, according to his own testimony. Praise the Lord, he is now a Born Again Christian!
D&D player (14 years old) Tom Sullivan, Jr. got into Satanism and ended up stabbing his mother to death, arranging a ritual circle (from D&D) in the middle of the living room floor and lit a fire in its midst. Fortunately, his dad and little brother were awakened by a smoke detector; but by then, Tom, Jr. had slashed his wrists and throat with his Boy Scout knife and died in the snow in a neighbor's yard.(1/19/88, Amarillo, TX.) | I remember my sunday school teacher condeming Role Play Games, it's only a mater of time before they are condeming MMORPGs. Quote: Originally posted by ATIRAGEPRO World of warcraft II requires your credit card number to play online. | I understand what you guys mean, but these kids who do these things have SERIOUS issues, any normal person won't do these things. The only people that should be blamed is the kids parents for taking such bad care of their children.
So many people died because of games like WoW and Everquest, many involving people playing couple days straight without food or water, and there was this really stupid one about some guy playing Everquest and commiting suicide because his clan member betrayed him.

| LIVE IN YOUR WORLD, DIE IN OURS... Geez. next you'll hear of games requiring your social security numbers to Enter The MaTrIx. Then everyone will get Prepaid Identities to avoid smith from coming after the children. Honestly. You reach a surtain age of your life where you think for yourself! If you yourself are not a ROBOT, then every mistake you make is not your parents fault!! :bald: You're never too old to take responsability for your own actions! Geez.

| "serious" issues, means actual mental problems. Well at least thats what I try to mean, think about it, are you sure that someone who is mentally sane would do such a thing?
