| jobs I hate my day job.. its horrible. the work is boring and pointless, in the three weeks ive been here, everything i have done has just sat on my desk, thus proving to me the senselessness of the tasks given to me. last summer it was good, i had the internship position at this company and made a bunch of money, now i am only making 9/hr and its not worth it with the 20 minute drive each way.
the schedule is horrible, i have to wake up at 6... this is my summer break for pete's sake! i have to wake up early everyday in the summer than during the school year. because of this, i never see my friends cuz they all work restaurants and dont get off until i have to go to bed. its lamesauce... fromthe time i show up here till the time i leave, i want to stick pins in my eyes and die and excruciatingly painful death just to avoid the monotony and tediousness of a summer job that i loathe with all of my being...
needless to say, i think i might quit.

$9/hr isn't terrible either. I just graduated and I'm only making $13/hr. |

| Re: jobs A job's a job. I realize getting up early sucks, but you get used to... you'll be doing it for most of your life. And $9/hr ain't too bad. i made $3.35 in high school and my first job out of high school.
Not every job serves an obvious purpose. My new job has me jumping on a lot of different projects, none of which are near completion. I do see how they will help everyone out once they are finished, but right now they aren't helping many at all.
Step back and look at the big picture. We're all part of it. Hang in there... plus, it will look good on your resume. |

| Re: jobs haha, thats what my mom said, about the resume thing. i dont know that it will look any better than say working in a restaurant. if i went over to my waiting job as full time as a could, i would make more than i do now.
i realize i will be doing it most of my life, which is all the more reason i dont want to do it now, while i dont have to. its a summer job, i should be able to relax and enjoy my time off while i still have it. as it is i wake up earlier now than i ever will have to for school. i would have no problem with it if it were my career but it isnt, you know?

| Re: jobs My first job I was switching coffee pots for $7.50 an hour. I didn't have to worry what switch wasn't functioning properly or what server was responding to ping, yet I couldn't physically find it. Oh, what simple times they were. ;_;

| Re: jobs An internship will look better than a restaurant job if it's in line with your degree. What's your major? Maybe we can suggest another job to look for that's better suited to you and your degree.
And I wouldn't complain too much about the $9/hr. I'll bet your friends working at restaurants aren't making that. |

| Re: jobs political science? Economy?
Your heading for one boring life.
Look at it this way... I make less then a dollar an hour, and on call 24/7, wake up at 5AM and get off work at 6-7PM, and I'm spending the best years of my life tracking beads of sweat down my back.
9 dollars is good (it really is), 6 isnt that early, and it last... a month or two? Bite the bullet, save the cash, and get hammered like the rest of us working men.
