Ok, so while sitting around playing my newer Gameboy Advance and listing to my iPod I came accross the idea of doing an iPod case hack and combining the classic look of the Gameboy Pocket and the awesome music storage of the iPod. I'm wondering if any one has any thoughts on the combination of the two.
Here's my plan:
1) Remove screws from GBP and gut all parts I don't need. Keep: screen, buttons and connections, audio port?, power switch.
2) Open up 4th Gen 20gig iPod and remove logic board, HD, battery, and button contacts. (leave screen)
3) Figure out how to fit all iPod parts into GBP shell, and find the correct screen connection. This shouldn't be too hard, the GBP is quite a bit bigger than the iPod
4) Hook up D-pad on GBP to play/pause, forward, rewind, and menu. Then hook (maybe some more hacking) the slide wheel positive (+) to button A and negitive (-) to button B. After that connect the middle selection on the iPod to the select/start button on GBP. Power button on GBP becomes hold switch on iPod.
5) Close up GBP, with hole somewhere for data link/charging.
6) Rock on with style!
Well thats the plan. I'd like to practice with a dead iPod before I really take mine apart. Tell me what you think, or if you've heard of any one else doing this. thanks
also is this even possible? if it is i could start a new trend coll huh?
