Are you gonna fly in real-time or speed it up?

Im interested in picking up MS Flight 2004 and already have the flight stick and yoke. BUt, my question is.. what's the learning curve of the program? How long will it take me to get the aircraft up and flighting?

Also, have you seen the screenshots from the upcoming one, "MS Flight X"? Looks crazy.

what is the point of holding a flight stick for 8 hours? no life or just extremely boring?

Have you ever played a flight sim? They aren't like FPS games. They are true real-time flight simulators.

EDITED - Changed "are" to "aren't'"

You can basically train to fly real planes with the better ones. 8 Hours at a PC flight sim would be a realistic flight from New York to Rome.

I agree it would be pretty boring... but realistic none the less.

I have flight sim 2004. i enjoy taking off and landing and flying some of the older planes around places i recognise (e.g. london).

for the long flights i tend to speed up time.

there is a lot of satisfaction to be had in landing a boeing 747 at night in stormy weather manually.

p.s a joystick is a must.
