| How do CPUs work anyway? Does anybody have a link to a more "in depth" page of information other than "dey av lotz of transistors dat go on off on off on off on off and BINGO here is ur output"
I want to know why and how the transistors do their job etc etc... you know what I mean.
Thanks.
By the way: yes, i DID google, and only got lots of examples of the above...

| As stated, I already did searches like that, but found nothing that had much detail.

| Pick up yourself the latest updated "A+ Certification Book." It will provide you with not only the history of CPU's but also a detailed understanding of exactly how they work.
If you are looking for a blueprint or specific CPU's... I'd say scour the AMD / Intel websites. I"m not too sure that they publish this type of info, but it's worth a try.

| what specifically are you looking for?

how code goes through the transistors?

| yea, specifically how code goes through the transistors, and how the code is actually processed.

| well, you have to understand certain basics, like what data really is. Data is, as I'm sure you've heard, 1's and 0's. You have on the proc a whole butt load of tiny switches, open or closed/1 and 0. In the chipset itself is a set of instructions that detemine how this data is processed and executed, it then "processes" this info, spits it back out where it is then displayed via the os and other hardware. Keep in mind this is a VERY SIMPLE explanation.
