Default Highest CD burn speed?

Hello. I am wondering what the fastest cd burn speed anyone has reached successfully. I managed to hit 57.63x on a 52x AOpen CD-Burner. The drive has a super speed mode, which ups the speed from 42x (standard) to the fulll 52x, but i did not use this.

Has anyone had faster? If so, how fast did it go? And, was it successful?

Yea, that's defintely cheating. I'm not going to test mine as I don't feel like having a CD blow up in my drive and buying a new one. Been there...done that...wasn't fun.

oh, i forgot to mention that the drive was free from someone (i forget who). I was using k3b on a fedora core 4 64bit system. no special drivers, just the standard linux ones.
