I really dont think that he joined the site in 1969. Considering that 1. The Internet as we know it didnt start till 1980's and 2. IPB was not around back then either. 
Let alone that fact that PCs as we know it didnt hit it till 1980's as well. So yeah join date was a bit of a exaggeration.
