Happy Free Comic Book Day!

Looking for something to do today? It’s Free Comic Book Day so you can go to a participating shop and pick up a copy of your favorite comic. Whether you want to see what’s going on with a comic you read as a kid or try something new to add to your collection, this is a good day to do it.

Free Comic Book Day is a single day - the first Saturday in May - when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE* to anyone who comes into their stores. *Check with your local shop for their participation and rules.

hmm, i have a hard time believing that shops will just give away comic books. especially in this day and age.

Normally the publishers like Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and some of the other bigger publishers release a free comic book just for that day. Normally it's a short story involving one the thier populare titles. Like I remember picking up the X-Men / Runnaways Free Comic Book Day issues a few years back.

You still need to pay for your regulare standing order.

Appart from that, most of the comic books shops tend to have sale on that day.
