Because eventually some bean counter in accounts will realise that there has been a slip up.
Otherwise, if you keep it or sell it, be prepaired to pay for it if/when some one does find out the slip up.
Currently, I can only think of one time (my Logitech 5.1 Speakers) where my suppliers have slipped up in my favor and have not released that they have made a mistake
