Default Faking Age When Buying Online... >__>

I thought it was all planned out. Today when my paycheck comes in (as it has) Id order my new PC on scan.co.uk using their "buy now, pay later" finance option. As i have the money for a 10% deposit, then 9 months on I can pay the rest (catch is £25 "handling fee" but im happy to pay that for having the PC this saturday rather than Jan 08).

But, after ordering it I was taken to the application form for this^ The "we check what you tell us with your bank details for fraud" messages got me worried as you have to be 18 to do this payment scheme it seems. Im 17.

It asked to put in DoB. If I was to enter (dd/mm/yy) 01/09/89 rather than 01/09/90 am I likely to get 'busted'?

Its pretty frustrating, I was looking forward to buildng my own PC for the first time. No Crysis for me this xmas :/

This would constitute them giving you a line of credit which is only available to adults, i.e. people aged 18 and up. They would be required to verify your age and info with your bank and if it comes back differently they just won't process you. You won't get in trouble or anything but you're purchase will be declined. It'll be a No Go, unfortunately. No luck getting a parent to help you out?

Dang that sucks...I always lie about my age online when buying stuff...Well maybe it's because I have the same name as my dad..

Cheers guys. I'll try my father although my whole family are rather apprehensive when it comes to money. I guess i'll only tell him of the £60 deposit and then mention the rest that has to be paid (£550) when the time comes to do so heh.

Good luck. My mom was always like that, she hated helping me out because she was always sure she'd get scammed, even if it was Newegg or Amazon (!) I was buying from. I was happy as **** when I got my debit card and could finally start buying stuff on my own.

Its not happening. Dad was happy enough to let me borrow his card, i transferred my money to him and went to get started.

However, the 'buy now, pay later finance option' came with a **** load of worryingly personal questions. 8 times I had to go down and ask dad things like "For how long have you had the mortgage on this house?"

And unbelievably, after sending half an hour on that, I click the final OK to recieve an error message. In frustration I just closed it down. I just feel too uncomfortable to try it again.

So, I guess Ill have to wait for January, by then i'll have enough to just pay the whole lot myself.

Or does anyone know any UK sites with a 'Buy now, pay later' option that doesnt give you a lot of crap...?
