Default DVD-RW quit working?

I don't know where else to post this, so here goes. I have a DVD-RW that I burn ISOs on to install things and then erase the disc. According to Wikipedia, these discs are claimed to be able to be written to and erased 1000 times before they quit. I've only written and erased mine maybe 10 times. Now, I try to burn an ISO to it and Neros is telling me that I need to insert the right disc. Alcohol 120% just calls it an "Empty Disc" and it just sits there and does nothing. I can't erase it again, so is it dead or what?

Pretty sure those things have a lifetime warranty anyway, just send it back (if you even have to do that) and they'll give you a new one?

Well, now I'm even trying a DVD-R with no luck. Alcohol says there is no disc. WTF?

sounds like your laser in your DVDRW has died.

If you can claim warranty on the drive, go for it. Otherwise, DVDRW are pretty cheap now days.

Instead of burning ISO's to discs, you could mount the ISO files in a program like Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120% directly.

I'll have to look into it further.

Not when installing operating systems.
