Default Dreamcast to Broadband! HELP!

Ok, I know very few Dreamcast things are still online, but I have some friends that still play PSO on a private server and I would like to jump on. Unfortunatly I don't have dial-up. In fact... I don't have a home phone anymore. Just a cellphone and broadband.

I also don't really have the time or money to buy one of those super expensive ethernet adapters off e-bay/from japan.

I was wondering if it is possible to turn one of my old computers into a dialup server, have the dreamcast dialin using its 56k modem, and then surf the net using my broadband through the 56k.

I have done stuff like this before with laptops that only had a dial-up modem. But it was a loooong time ago and the host was a Windows 98 PC. I no longer have Windows 98 to put on a computer, nor would I want to. I do have copies of XP pro and 2k. I also am pretty good with Linux and could put any distro on there. So does anyone have any experience with this? Or know how I could do such a thing?

As for checking google... well I did. But I found this:

Seems like a good walkthrough, but trying to follow the steps was basically impossible as I was using a different OS, have no IDEA how to use XP's dial-up server, and a different NAT program.

So yeah... can anyone help
