| hey, that looks pretty cool.... where did you watch it? TNT?
Also, this caught my eye:
"Warner Bros, the film's distributor, objected to the title Dark City early in the film's production. They felt the title would confuse audiences with Mad City, Warner's soon-to-be-released film starring John Travolta and Dustin Hoffman, which they predicted would be a commercial hit. The filmmakers changed the title to Dark World, but the estate of Steven Spielberg threatened legal action, feeling the title was too similar to their film The Lost World: Jurassic Park. The title was then changed to Dark Empire, but legal action was again threatened, this time by Lucasfilm, who felt the title was too similar to their own well-known sci-fi film The Empire Strikes Back (and was an exact match for the Dark Empire comics that had been made about Star Wars). However, by the time the film was completed and ready for release, Warner's Mad City had come and gone from theatres and was not the hit they hoped it would be, and the filmmakers were allowed to use their original title."
lol that's hilarious

| yeah, that is pretty screwed up.
I watched it on regular SD free to air TV.
It featured a lot of things similar to the Matrix, plot elements etc but it also features a lot of similar landscapes. In the wikipedia article it says that it shared a lot of the sets so thats the reason why its got a similar feel.
I thought it had such a interesting theory behind it and i loved it.
I declare this movie my favourite movie since Dr Strangelove.

| Shut It Down! Shut It Down Forever! Quote: Originally posted by waynejkruse10 I just saw a movie on TV called Dark City. I remember on of the series was filmed right under the harbor bridge. And the train station was Musium Station in Sydney.
And since that movie was filmed down in australia, it did confirm a lot of my theories about how I my expereince of 6 Degrees Seperation in Syndey at the time. It was getting kind of freaky there for a while when I was meeting people that were freind of my freinds. But I guess that was natural at the time as I was one of those central people in an anime circle.
Dark City is a pretty cool film. A freind of mine was a extra in that. He had to shave all his facial hair off for the role.
I used to have the the quote "Shut It Down! Shut It Down Forever!" as my shut down sound for my PC.

As I remember they even got one of the old "red rattlers" for that scene too. (been a while since I have seen Dark City)

| Screw john travolta, it's all about Forest Whitaker, who isn't even mentioned in that wikipedia thing. (Anyone ever see ghost dog? How about the classic good morning vietnam? Forest whitaker is the star in both of those..........YES, especially good morning vietnam, regardless of what people say that robin williams is the star......BAH)
Howard the duck ROCKED lol, it's on the 'disowned' list, I remember that as a kid.
Catwoman........JESUS man, it's stuff like that, that seriously makes me wonder how these people produce a movie, watch it and think "Yeah! Thats a good movie!"
My friend worked at a movie theatre and we got to all watch it the day before it's release..........I almost killed myself halfway through it
Freddy got fingered, GREAT movie.....these critics dont know crap!
Blood sucking freaks, never seen it but "Containing a mix of naked women, midgets, excessive torture, and women eating ears," Hey it's gotta be good!
You want bad, you should look into "Blood vampire", has nothing to do with blood or vampires lol.
This dude gets hooked on pot, threatens his dealer to give him pot for free since he got him hooked, and in this one scene he eats an entire turkey, then TURNS INTO a turkey and kills people lol.
Also, just watch myster science theatre 3000, that's about the worst movies ever right there. |
