Default Computer Tool Kit

Hey guys, I work for a tool company and I am working on a tool kit right now for a well known company. But I also want to come up with one that could sell at other stores as well. so here are my questions:

What would you want in a computer tool kit?

1. Screw drivers? Driver and bits or Blade and handle for each type? What types? Nut Drivers? Slotted? Torx? Phillips? Allen? Precision?

2. Electrical stuff? Circuit tester? Soldering tools? Zip ties, electrical tape? Wire crimpers?

3. Pliers, wrenches? what sizes? Tweezers? Forceps? Clamp on tweezers? Inspection mirror? Telecoping magnet?

4. Cleaning tools? Brushes? Canned Air? Mini electric vacuum? Keyboard cap pullers? Pin or IC extractors?

5. What about replacement screws, jumpers, washers etc? What size/thread and how many? What type of holder for them?

6. What kind of lighting? Mini flashlight? Lighted screwdriver? Head lamp?

7. What type of storage? Zippered case? Plastic blow molded case? Suitcase? Bag or back pack?

8. Where would you look to uby something like this?

9. What price range would you pay for this?

keep it reasonable, try to stay away from the high end electronic diagnostic equipment. More along the lines of basic yet computer specific tools you would use in general repair, cleaning, upgrading etc.

With your help with this information I hope to put together a computer tool kit that has most everything you would need. I might end up with a big one and a small one, and if successful it would soon be selling in your local retailers. You could then tell people you helped design it.

Thanks for your input

A tech friend of mine travels a lot from company to company doing repairs. Since the repairs can be large or small, he has a van full of equipment. However, he has the small kit that he put together and carries everywhere. So, from his needs.....

What would you want in a computer tool kit?

1. His kit has a couple of handles with removal bits and drivers. There are also some of the most common sockets. He also has a couple of static free screwdrivers made of some type resin.

2. He has a small circuit tester, but it has lots of functions. He uses lots of zip/wire ties.

3. He has a very small crescent wrench and needle-nose pliers. He has a couple pair of hemostats.

4. He has a small, battery powered vacuum cleaner with several attachments, along with Canned Air.

5. He has a ton of replacement parts, but doesn't carry them with him unless he knows he'll need them.

6. He has a couple of AAA mini-mags that he carries.

7. His is a zippered case that everything is thrown in, but it's small and convenient. A molded case would be nice with some extra slots for added stuff.

8. Staples, Wal-Mart (maybe not), Circuit City, etc.

9. I saw one small kit similar to this that was $19.99 USD, but all the tools in it were really cheap. I'd that that with good tools that a company may do well if it was $25 to $40. And of course, you could always have the deluxe kit.

What do I use for working on computer? Him and his tools. LoL!

Good luck with your endeavor! Is there some kind of discount for those that help and members of Tech-Forums?

Depends on how BIG I want to make it.

Like I have a few kits. I have my @ HOME or PRODUCTION ROOM KIT. Basically it have every things that I could possibly need.

1. Driver and bits or Blade and handle for each type?

YES

2. Electrical stuff? Circuit tester? Soldering tools? Zip ties, electrical tape? Wire crimpers?

I think the only thing that I don't have is a curcuit tester. Then again, I just work out whether or not the part is working or not. It's just a simple just to replace a whole part.

4. Cleaning tools? Brushes? Canned Air? Mini electric vacuum? Keyboard cap pullers? Pin or IC extractors?

I think you forgot rubber gloves or spare keyboard. Just incase the one you are working on has "a case of the 'short & curlies'"

I only have a Brushes and a Mini Electric Vacuum Cleaner.

5. What about replacement screws, jumpers, washers etc? What size/thread and how many? What type of holder for them?

Pretty much what ever is left over from all the other computer i build. I have them stored in a small zip lock bag.

6. What kind of lighting? Mini flashlight? Lighted screwdriver? Head lamp?

I have this UBAR Bright Mini Flashlight.
It's great for blinding people too.

7. What type of storage? Zippered case? Plastic blow molded case? Suitcase? Bag or back pack?

Locker with a padlock on it.

8. Where would you look to uby something like this?

JayCar, Bunning HareWareHouse, steel it from work.

9. What price range would you pay for this?

$3000 if i include the power drill and the dremil.

My onsite bag is different.
4x Screw Driver (Both Flat head and Phillips)
1x Mini Flash Light
1x CD Wallet with all sorts of software from Windows OS to Anti Virus to SiS Sanda.

The other thing you did not mension is spare parts.
I make sure i keep 1x Spare Power 300 Watt ATX Power Supply with me
