I didn't know where to post this....perhaps multimedia, but i wasn't sure...

Problem....I've downloaded several codec packs from limewire (ran through AVG and clean!). The key word here is 'several' and i installed them; Here's a list from my 'add/remove' GUI: (I really don't know what i'm doing. I just wanted a comprehensive codec to use for Limewire downloads for personal viewing of 'not so old movies' - 'current releases'

Is there anyone out there that can suggest ONE that fits most applications...I'd like the option not only to watch a new release, but perhaps to make my own with my family (i.e.; Movie editing and post production [cut.splice.voice over, etc) - but i'm not well educated in the video department so it all looks overwhelming.

Suggestions as to a single codec suite and video editing suite are appreciated. Thank you in advance.
