I think if it were possible to utilize the energy from ATP and such from cell respiration...wouldn't that in a way eliminate need for power? If you have cells on a HUGE scale, which isn't hard to do in a small space, the energy they produce would be more than enough. Although that would be just a tad diffucult to do...
