I did google this and wasn't very successful. |

| Re: Cathode light How about some more details about specifically what you are trying to do..... trying to figure out how to mount it, hook up the power... ? Maybe provide the details about the cathode you have (details not being color)... |

| Re: Cathode light I got the cold cathode that is 8" long for a computer. Newegg.com - LOGISYS Computer CLK12UV2 12" DUAL UV COLD CATHODE KIT - OEM
I broke the metal holding the 2 wires on the switch cause I thought thats how I connected the cold cathode lights to the cars trunk light. I found out I have to use the 4 pin molex but which wires and where do they go?
Oh and if it helps which I don't think it will my car is an 1990 Acura Legend
One other thing: is it illegal to have a bright light in my trunk? I know it is if its under your vehicle but what about if its inside the trunk?

| Re: Cathode light well everybody knows that a car runs on 12v, and well what do you know, a pc runs on 12v
but in a car : Red = 12v, black = ground
PC: Yellow = 12v, Black = Ground
so connect yellow to red, and black to black (from the molex that you would usually connect inside the pc), and it should work
and about the brightness, uv lights are not that bright, so no worries there, and how would anybody know if its there, if your trunk is closed, and when its open, who would care, becasue for all they could know, you just got one sick arse flashlight |

| Re: Cathode light Lol, you are going to want to have a switch on the light so that it isn't sitting there in your trunk on for 24x7.... Also, as BMX said, if your trunk is a normal trunk, there really isn't much purpose to have an 'always on' light in there.... if you have a hatch (not sure if there was a legend hatch, and not enough time to google that right now...) having it on while driving wouldn't be a good idea, because it will effect your ability to see out the rear window.... at night at least... |

| Re: Cathode light most normal trunks have a switch in the lock mechanism that will kill power to the original trunk light, so what you do is, cut the original light out of the circuit, and wire in the cathode, so it will turn on when you open the trunk to light up what you are doing, and shut off when you close it.
also, i did run a google, and it is a standard trunk |

| Re: Cathode light Thats what I want to do have it on when the trunk is open and have it off when the trunk is shut. Thank you guys for all of the info. I just hate how trunks aren't very lit up at night when you are grocery shopping and you can't see where stuff is like the eggs. You don't want eggs in the trunk with other heavy items cause they could get smashed and make a mess in the trunk. |
