Well, actually, if you believe the steroid allegations (And who wouldn't, the guy goes from being a skinny twit to a jacked up monster in one off season. He later attributed the change to "beginning my weight training early". Really. I didn't know lifting weights actually increases your head size and makes you wear shoes three whoel sizes bigger.), the post-steroid numbers would account for over 250 home runs. Fact is, without his use of HGH, he would not have broken Hank Aaron's home run record.
Of course, before his use of steroids, he was baseball's best around player, being an already excellent hitter as well as a Gold Glove outfielder. Now, he is a liability to his team, being almost useless in terms of fielding and baserunning. He is only effective in hitting home runs and that's it. He doesn't get on base and help his AWFUL team out very much. To those people who believe that it taints the all time HR record, relax. First, it won't stand that long. A-Rod is going to blow it away by hitting close to 900 HRs. Second, it only enhances Henry Aaron's legacy as the most consistent baseball player of all time. I don't believe he even hit 40 home runs in a single season. On the other hand, Barry Bonds can attribute his home run surge to the use of HGH, whether he took it as "flaxseed oil" or not. Come on, Barry. Give us a break. You had no reason to use steroids. You were an all time great before you used the juice and STOLE the record from Aaron.
