Hi, I just reformated my computer (with out knowing it ) and I installed my audio drivers and for some inconcevable reason I get absolutely no sound. . . . . . can some one please help me, I have an ac97' vinyl audio card.

Do you have onboard sound? If you do, you may have to disable it to prevent any conflicts.

How do you format without knowing it? It asks you like 5 times if you are sure you want to do it.

the AC97' card is onboard and disabling it wont help. I was trying to dual boot, so I was installing XP to my OS free partition and it wipped both parts.

never mind. . . . . . it turns out that if I dont have the front ports plugged into the board some jumpers dont get registered so the card wont work. . . . . . needless to say I am going to go to my local wallmart and purchase a sound blaster card. . . . . . joy my last PCI slot and money I dont have!

If its onboard, its not really a sound "card." Make sure you disable the onboard as i said when you put in your new card.
