I have an old Remington Fieldmaster 572 .22 rifle that I am having trouble with. I was trying to sight it in. I shot it a few times and it was shooting fine. Then I cleaned it and after that it got really hard to pump. I took the trigger assembly apart but did not see anything wrong. I thought about buying the whole trigger assembly, it is not too expensive but I don't want to waste my money if that does not fix it. Does anybody have any experience with this type of gun?

You probably need to strip it down and clean the receiver/bolt mechanism better. I use to have a disassembly guide for all the major models, I'll see if I can find it.

I have took the trigger assembly, which I think is my problem, out and cleaned it. Everything looks ok.

Why would cleaning the gun cause this to happen?

Something might not have sat properly when you put it back together.

Yha, strip and check the pump slides. Might have moved gunk into there.

I will give that a try. With the trigger assembly out, should I be able to pump it?
