Default Anime

I have come to know that many people who are technology enthusiasts are also anime enthusiasts. I have never really watched the stuff, so I can't say whether I like it or dislike it. Why is this stuff so popular among techies and what am I missing out on?

Anime is an aquired taste I think. I did not like it at first myself but was FORCED to watch some ... it's not bad now Japanese Anime is much better than American Anime ... more Adult content The movie "Van Helsing" came from an Anime movie.

I think us tech heads are into much of the same, like gaming, comics, anime cause they are all kinda related. I love Japanime! My favourites are Akira, Ninja Scroll, Ghost in the Shell, Street Fighter 2... list goes on and on. I think Japanime is gaining more popularity in the west because American movies are so dull when it comes to a story line. It's all about making big bucks now so they just pump out crappy movies. Wicked special effects but no story.

Yeah, I've seen that. It was supposed to explain sooo much about the Matrix trilogy.

It was a waste of my time and bored me half to death!

Wink Re=Revolutions

I get it now. The Animatrix was supposed to explain allot about the Video game Enter the Matrix and that was supposed to explain the plot of the Matrix Reloaded! I can't go into detail because i'll give it away.

You guys should see the Matrix Revolutions. That Fight between Neo and Agent Smith was just like Dragondball Z!

The Matrix trilogy blows. Matrix should have been left at just the initial movie. 'Reloaded' and 'Revolutions' suck. And that final fight between Neo and Smith was ridiculous a lot like Superman fighting Doomsday, just cheesy, all that flying around stuff. Those last two movies were a real let down.

THough most of it was indeed boring, i did find teh one wehre they explained how teh robots took over the earth very interesting. Also, teh Final Flight of the Osiris shows how the peopel found out about the drilling.

Yes Revolutions was a big let down. That final battle was utter crap. You can tell that the directors were trying to end it quickly. However, the battle with the robots in Zion docking bay was SO FREAKEN AWESOME.

Now back to anime....i had a discussion about this a while back that just went bad. But i do like anime alot. It can accomplish what modern film cant. However, with the advent of CGI movies, i think anime will slowly die out.

I don't care much for anime myself, but I guess it is just all up to taste.

I like anime too. I have a fair sized collection of DVD, Videos and Manga.

I like it as it's different. The stories are different. Humor is different. Some of the shows are just there to make you think.

Anime is not there for every one. Like my parents have a hard time trying to understand it.

And anime is not just the same. Both my flatemate and myself have totally different tastes in what shows we like to watch.

Anime has inspired a lot of movies today. Eg. The Matrix Trilogy.

Anime has also brought around more not-for-kids animations into the mainstream market. Eg. Enter The Matrix, Dark Fury, Sin.

In the end, it up to you to make heads or tails of it. Like if i was going to recommend anything so a first time watcher, i would say :-
* Princess Monenoke
* Patlabor 2
* Ghost In The Shell
* Silent Mobius 1 & 2
