| 130 people killed by heat wave? Was just reading on GoogleÂ’s news site and saw this http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...072801648.html
I couldn't believe anyone could die. What happen to common sense, if you're area had no electricity than take a cold shower! Stay cool, drink ALOT OF WATER! Stay inside; it's much cooler than being under the sunlight. Go to the coast, the beaches are much cooler. It never occurs to me that anyone would let the heat wave kill them. |

| yeah, but it's old people and they are stupid. My grandma is in a trailer on the side of our house in southern california and she'll refuse to turn on the AC and crap because she doesn't want to worry about the electric bill and cause us too much trouble........cause yeah a FUNERAL would be a lot better and cheaper. |

| Yea LOL, and I also notice the paragraph
"Schmidt-Fogarty said the bureau was concerned that fruit pickers were in danger because of the heat. At least two farmworkers and four others who worked outside are believed to have died from heat stroke, said Marc Grossman, a spokesman for the United Farm Workers, a union that represents fruit pickers and other agricultural laborers. The cases are being investigated by state authorities"
Hmmmmmmmm, I wonder who those people are. Who's usually responsible for doing this kind of job in southern California. [sarcasm]
Anyway to be serious, I kind of feel sorry for them. If youÂ’re working outdoor with heat breaking record you should at least get a lot of break or go home and rest. |

| A heat wave is a relatively shameless way to die. You ever look up the statistics for the number of people that pass away from beaver attacks every year? The fact that it's more than one is embarassing. |

| You guys do realise that these heatwaves put stress on the electrical lines, if a large area has a black out for a long period of time they may no longer have running water either because of the pumps not having an electrical supply. So yea.... It is easy to die in this kind of heat. |

| I doubt it or else there would probably be more death. Knowing that it is mostly elderly people and how theyÂ’re so fragile to changes, I would suspect it would be easy for them to get killed because they either donÂ’t care or no oneÂ’s there to help them. If you donÂ’t have any water, any electricity, than the best alternative is to go to the store and buy a lot of water and ice. Pour a lot of ice in the bath tub, and get in it for a couple of minute. That ice will melt but the water will be cold enough for hours. Common sense really, you canÂ’t leave yourself dying when you have options. |
