windows update ERROR!!

Please help!!! I go to do the updates for service pack 2 XP home,
and it comes back with this error "Error Code: 0x80070005" ....

I know that it is a problem with my computer, and not my router settings/ firewall, because my second computer had no troubles downloading, and installing the update.

Please help

edit : now, i cant even update my online anit-virus scan (bitdefender) - it says "Unable to update signatures, scan anyway?"

i have no idea what to do from here... tried all my scans, but i guess they are corrupt now??
Pest patrol managed to locate approximately 115 problems, and that was after I did a system restore.

also, the windows update page will load and i will be able to attempt to download and install updates, however,
it says this :
"Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130)"
required..
